29. Review: Sensse Silicone Facial Brush

*Note: This product was sent to me for review. All opinions are my own. *

Now that we’ve got that out of the way… hello! I’ve been meaning to write this post for about six weeks now? It’s all been very busy with the opening of Fruity Lanes, which is currently up on Etsy (you can check that out here), but I’m back! I actually applied to review Sensse’s silicone facial brush via a reviewing company and was lucky enough to get accepted, but had I known that this product existed sooner I would have probably bought it myself anyway!

It comes in a sleek white box that reminds me a lot of Apple’s packaging, which reveals the gorgeous pink brush. The grooves on it immediately gave the impression that the brush would aid circulation along with exfoliation, and I definitely felt that upon first use. It has three modes on it, varying in levels of vibration depending on what extent of exfoliation you require. With more vibration comes a greater sense of circulation on the targeted area of skin. I chose to use the Sensse brush in circular motions on my face, as this ensured that a greater surface area would be covered.

Below are two pictures showing the difference on my skin between day 1 and day 7 of using the Sensse silicone facial brush:

day 1 day 7

As you can see, my skin did clear up a fair amount in the seven days of using the brush, which was quite surprising considering my skin type (acne prone, sensitive/combination). I wasn’t expecting miracles in total honesty, so to even have this amount of progress was better than nothing for me!

Would you recommend this product?

I would definitely recommend the Sensse silicone facial brush 100%! I love its sleek design, the fact that it charges via USB and the impact that it’s made on my skin. It’s satisfying knowing that my circulation is being encouraged through the vibrations, as well as being to exfoliate in a less harsh way than using a damaging micro-bead based face scrub.

I hope you enjoy this product as much as I did!

28.The Liebster Award!

Liebster I was nominated by Anna (A Sparkle of Grace) for this and am super honoured, so thank you! Also I apologise for not posting this last week, I’ve just been ridiculously busy!

1. How long have you been blogging?

I have been blogging on Sea Banana for 10 months now, but I’ve been on and off blogging for the last 7 years now (i.e. opening and closing blogs, plus going through Tumblr stints, haha!)

2. Where do you get your inspiration for your posts?

It comes mostly from what I’m experiencing in my personal life, although I try to keep some of that to myself. Also seeing what’s happening on Twitter/Pinterest helps for garnering ideas!

3. Is there anything you wish you could change about the blogging community, or even just blogging in general?

The only thing I can think of would be a way of bringing more reader engagement to smaller bloggers. If I can help with that and let more small bloggers know that their content is appreciated then that would be nice!

4. You are given a million dollars what do you do with it?

I’d put more money into research on mental health, as I wouldn’t want anyone else to struggle in the same way that I have. I’d also pay off the bills of those nearest and dearest to me and buy myself a property to live in. The rest would collect interest in the bank!

5. If you could meet any three people throughout history who would you pick?

Chiune Sugihara because I’ve read about his work recently and it inspired me, Anne Boleyn because I always thought she was an interesting person when I learnt about Henry VIII’s wives, and King James VI because I want to know more about why he became the King of England as well as Scotland and Ireland.

6. What is your favourite era for fashion and makeup?

The 1930s for the long lines in the outfits, along with the androgynous fashion. I love how flattering the outfits look without being revealing; that’s not to say that I have a problem with revealing clothing, I don’t, I just prefer to be more covered.
7. If you had to live without your phone or your computer which would you keep?

I would keep my computer because then I can still all of my blogging and social stuff, as well as email people rather than endure awkward phone calls!

8. Dogs or cats? Why?

Cats, definitely! Although this could be because I seem to be allergic to dogs…

9. Who are your favourite bloggers?

I love Cheesie at Cheeserland in particular, but I’ve been really enjoying Jemma’s blog Dorkface recently!
10. If you had your own brand/business what would your products be?

I actually have a stationery shop online (which you can see here)

11. What is your favorite childhood memory?

Reading so many books in my room, while hiding under my desk and wishing I was like Matilda, haha!

Phew, that took me longer to write than intended!

I’d like to nominate @a_blogger2017 (blog can be found here) and @travelbear92  (blog can be found here) as they’re absolutely lovely and write great posts!

My 11 questions:

  1. What made you want to start blogging?
  2. What motivates you to write?
  3. What’s the last show you watched?
  4. What’s your favourite animal?
  5. What is the last blog post you read?
  6. What are you listening to currently?
  7. What is your current blogging goal?
  8. What is your blog about?
  9. Where do you see your blog taking you in the next five years?
  10. Who are your favourite bloggers?
  11. What book are you reading currently?

27.  Update and the Opening of Fruity Lanes

Another quick update on what’s been going on as of late, as I suck at keeping to a schedule!

Fruity Lanes

I’ve just about got down to keeping up with writing one post a week, although finding a set day is something I’m yet to settle on! My main goal in finding one day per week to post is that I’ll be going into my final year of university in a matter of weeks, and I want to stay on top of everything while I’m aware of my need to master time management. Moreover, as a university club president, a perfectionist and girlfriend I want to have my time split down well enough that nothing gets abandoned or overlooked. To some work would also fit into that equation, but I just don’t feel that adding that to the mix would be intelligent when putting my mental health into the spectrum. I can’t recall if I’ve discussed it much before (although I probably should), but I have depression with psychotic features. This means that as my depression worsens or relapses, something which does happen as I’m easily stressed out, I begin to experience psychosis in the form of hallucinations. While I’m comfortable enough with discussing my mental health, creating a lifestyle that compliments and supports me to not continually fall back into a depression is something I’m still very much working on.

Looking Forward…

I’d like to have a set schedule as my ultimate goal for Sea Banana, as at no point do I want to run myself into the ground. I love blogging, but I need to be able to enjoy it if I want to keep doing it. Now that I think about it, just having some structure in my life as a whole would be nice! Currently I go from no focus and ambling along to hyper focus on one thing, which can be damaging when you have so many other things that also need attention! I’d also like to get into a position where I can reduce my medication slightly or at least be able to schedule in some therapy. I’ve had CBT before (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), but that was when I was at my worst so I didn’t really feel any benefits? It’s been two years since then and I’m in a much better head space now, so I think that I could work on finding better coping strategies so that I don’t keep having prolonged ‘down’ periods.

Do you have any blog posts on organising, time management or planning that you recommend?

The Opening of Fruity Lanes

Now this is the most exciting news of all! I’ve been watching videos online in a moment of soul searching and thinking about what I want to do with my life beyond university, which made me realise that:

  1. I don’t want to be working in a mundane job that sacrifices time from my craft.
  2. I’d be much happier working for myself if possible/being self employed in some way!
  3. I’ve wanted an online business for the last year and should jump at the opportunity.

This lead to the creation of Fruity Lanes. Stationery, crafts and home decor are my favourite items to purchase both practically and aesthetically, so to be able to source out products and bring them to you at an affordable rate would be a dream come true for me. The website will be live in just under 2 weeks, and I’m really hoping you will love the products as much as I do!

That’s all for now, see you in the next post!
